Award-Winning Oak Smoked Irish Organic Salmon

Award-Winning Oak Smoked Irish Organic Salmon

Wrights of Howth at Dublin Airport

Our organic oak-smoked salmon is stocked in two shops at Dublin Airport: The Irish Market in Terminal 2 and the Pier B shop in Terminal 1. Open from four in the morning, because the first flights leave early and the last presents get bought late.

Somewhere between the check-in desk and the boarding gate, nearly every traveller remembers the people they meant to buy for. Dublin Airport has that moment covered. Wrights of Howth has been trading from the harbour in Howth for over 130 years, first as fishmongers and smokers of salmon, now also as makers of gift hampers and keepers of an online Gift Store stocked by Irish makers we have worked with for years. At the airport, our salmon travels ahead of you: The Irish Market in Terminal 2 and the Pier B shop in Terminal 1 both stock it.

Where to find our salmon at Dublin Airport

Two shops at Dublin Airport stock Wrights of Howth produce. They are run by the airport’s retail operators rather than by us, so think of this as where to find our salmon, not where to find our staff.

What the airport shops stock

Organic oak-smoked Irish salmon. The same salmon that has won Great Taste Awards in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023, smoked over oak the way it has been done in Howth for generations.

Our own full range lives online: the Gift Store runs to over 200 pieces from Irish makers (Aran knitwear, Foxford, Newbridge Silverware, Waterford Crystal, Jellycat, La Bougie, the Hatman of Ireland), from a €17 stocking filler to a €400 centrepiece, delivered anywhere in Ireland.

Can't carry it? Order online before you fly

Here is the honest limitation of buying salmon at an airport: smoked salmon wants a fridge, and a fourteen-hour journey with two connections is not a fridge. If you are flying long-haul, the better move is often to let us do the travelling.

  • Send a hamper within Ireland. Our gift hampers are delivered anywhere in Ireland, so the family you visited can be opening one while you are still in the air.
  • Send the salmon itself. Our organic oak-smoked salmon ships chilled to Irish, UK and EU addresses, cut and packed at the West Pier.
  • Ship to the USA or UK. For friends and family abroad, we keep a dedicated range of non-perishable gifts that ship to the USA and UK. No customs forms for you to think about, no chilled bag in the overhead bin.

This is the diaspora’s oldest problem, and we have made a business of solving it: getting a taste of Ireland to the people who could not be here. Order before you fly, or after you land. Either way it arrives better than it would have survived in a suitcase.

Practical questions before you fly

Can you buy smoked salmon at Dublin Airport?

Yes. Two shops stock our award-winning organic oak-smoked salmon: The Irish Market in Terminal 2 and the Pier B shop in Terminal 1. The table above has hours and maps.

Are these Wrights of Howth’s own shops?

No, and we would rather be straight about that. Both shops are run by the airport’s retail operators and stock our produce among their ranges. Our own home is the West Pier in Howth, and our own shop is online.

Is the salmon packed for travel?

Our organic oak-smoked salmon retails in sealed vacuum packs with the use-by date printed on the label. It is a chilled product: the pack asks for 0 to 4°C, so it will manage a short hop in a cool bag, but a long-haul day of connections is pushing it. If you are freezing it when you land, leave the vacuum pack intact; it keeps for up to six months in the freezer. For anything longer than a short flight, ordering online is the kinder route for the fish.

Can I bring Irish smoked salmon into the USA?

Commercially packaged fish for personal use is generally admissible under US Customs and Border Protection rules (checked July 2026), but you must declare all food on arrival and the final decision rests with the officer at the border. If you would rather not gamble a good side of salmon on a customs queue, our USA-friendly gift range ships non-perishable Irish gifts direct to American addresses.

What time do the shops open?

Both open at 04:00, so even the red-eye to the continent leaves time to pick something up. The Irish Market trades until 21:00; the Pier B shop closes at 17:00 or 18:00 depending on the day.

Can I order online instead?

You can, and for anything perishable we would encourage it. Delivery within Ireland is next working day, and the Gift Store, hampers and smoked salmon are all available to order. Online gift cards start at €25.

From the West Pier to the departure gate

Wrights of Howth began on the pier in Howth over 130 years ago, and the head office is still there: 14 West Pier, Howth, Co Dublin. Five generations on, we smoke salmon the same way and hold the same view, that a gift from Ireland should actually be from Ireland. That is what travels to Dublin Airport: not a souvenir line, but the produce of a working smokehouse with a harbour behind it. If you want the longer version, it is on our story page.

Catching a flight from Dublin? Our salmon is in The Irish Market in Terminal 2 and the Pier B shop in Terminal 1 from 4am. Not flying? The whole range is a few clicks away.
